Workshop & Gallery

My Present workshop is located at 1099 Marginal Road, in space 109 in the ground level brick building directly behind the Westin Hotel next to the new Pier 21 Immigration Museum in downtown Halifax, Canada.  Halifax is a great city with all the usual amenities and has, I believe,  the second highest student population per capita ratio in North America which gives it a very eclectic mix. Within 15 minutes of downtown you are in "almost wilderness" although the wood associated and development minded types seem hell bent on changing that! I am currently the Chair of the pier 21 arts annex association which is a non- profit artists' collective that has been an incubator for some of the most creative artists and projects coming out of Atlantic Canada during the past 15 years. We formerly occupied the space which is now the Pier 21 Immigration Museum.  There are roughly speaking around 30 artists' workshops in our new space, occupying around 15000 sq feet,  producing a remarkable variety of work in many different mediums.  There will be links to some of the artists' sites on this site as they get themselves organized. We are all privately run businesses and the association receives no provincial or federal funding. Recently the cultural federations of Nova Scotia Visual Arts, Nova Scotia Crafts Council, Dance Nova Scotia, Drama League, Writers Federation, Choral Society, and the Multi Cultural Society moved into the building we now occupy.  Links to the groups which I am currently a member of are included and we all hope that this combination will build a strong base for the promotion of arts culture in the province. Myself and most of the artisans, but certainly not all, welcome visitors on an appointment or by chance basis and I have a small gallery at the front of the workshop where there is usually a fair selection of quality work available. Please call ahead.
